The minutes are ticking by (2 days and change as of this posting) and still no word on what is up with the Red Sox attempt to ink Japanese ace Daisuke Matsuzaka. They snagged a reliever, a new shortstop and spent what most feel is a bounty on JD Drew and yet they haven’t made any discernable progress in signing who (outside of Zito and Schmidt) is probably the best pitcher available this off-season.

We still need a closer too…. I am guessing that a Dice-K deal gets done and we bring in a steroidless Gagne to close out games. It will be an interesting two days.
