The Way I see it, volume 2.0

This is another early week wrap up of what I see and what the (in)significance of it may be.

1. Complete Crapstr – is there a web 2.0 rule that a new social network has to be released every single day? From alpha to beta, from gamma to deep-undercover-private-zeta, new crapr sites are popping up all over the place. They do, however, have one thing in common: they will all cease to exist sometime soon.

2. Netflix+Pandora – little pull on my Netflix + Pandora post. Thanks for the mention, here and same thing here (but its Yahoooooooo!). I checked out Netflix’s “preview” section last night and, interestingly, the trailers they showed were much more to my liking than the rest of their reco stuff. Movie payola, never thought I would hear those words and Netflix put together. Such is life with companies crumbling under the weight of Hollywood dollars. I just hope Netflix can rise above this and make my experience on their site better.

3. Down goes Yahoo? - Interesting news just out of the Yahoo camp. Sales of automotive and financial ads are down— and the stock is too. Friend of mine calls the current incarnation of search marketing “elementary”. I agree to a point. It is, however, a good starting point and it will evolve just like media 1.0 is starting to evolve. What comes next?
